Amid an environmental crisis that led to governments worldwide mandating voluntary and conscripted euthanasia for population control, former news broadcaster Charles York invites his four adult children to dinner at his home. He lives with his second wife, celebrity chef Dawn Kim. The children—Jared York, a controversial anthropologist; Rachel York, a beleaguered pharmaceutical CEO; Ashley York, a struggling actress; and Noah York, a recovering addict—attend the gathering along with Rachel’s young daughter, Mia.
The dinner takes a dark turn when Charles announces that he and Dawn have voluntarily enlisted in the Department of Citizen Strategy’s euthanasia program. A heated family argument erupts, but the tension escalates further when Dawn, having second thoughts, sneaks away and flees. Shortly after, Bob, a representative from the Department of Citizen Strategy, arrives with armed agents. The family is shocked to learn that Charles has scheduled his euthanasia for that very evening, intending for everyone to be present.
With Dawn missing, Charles attempts to reschedule his euthanasia. Bob presents him with documents, explaining that cancellation would freeze the family’s assets and publicly brand Charles as a traitor. Facing these consequences, Charles reluctantly decides to proceed with his death. After Charles passes, Bob informs the family that he must collect a second body as initially agreed.
Although Mia, being a minor, is exempt from euthanasia, Bob takes her outside while the remaining four York siblings are given two hours to decide who among them will die. Tensions reach a breaking point as Jared suggests that Noah, being adopted and a perceived burden due to his past, should be the one to die. This suggestion leads Rachel to attempt stabbing Noah, sparking a violent struggle. Noah fights desperately to defend himself, but eventually, his siblings overpower and restrain him.
